A 24oz shaker in impact-grade copolyester, with a screw lid, a flip cap that seats hard enough to carry upside down in a bag, and a stainless wire mixing ball.
The body is one moulding with no internal ribs, so it actually washes out. The storage compartments and stacked filters on most shakers are exactly where a shaker starts to smell.
Graduations are embossed into the wall rather than printed, because printed marks wear off in a month of dishwashing and then it is an unmarked cup.
The specification
Everything we know about this item, stated plainly. The same record is printed on the card in the box.
- Fit
- One size. 3.1in diameter at the base, 8.7in tall with the lid on - it clears a standard car cup holder and a gym-bag bottle pocket.
- How it ages
- Copolyester scratches with time, mostly from the wire ball, and a scratched body looks cloudy long before it is any less sound. It will hold a faint smell if you leave it sealed and full - that is the material, not a fault. The flip-cap hinge is the part that eventually fails, after a few hundred cycles.
- Composition
- Impact copolyester body, BPA-free; polypropylene lid and flip cap; 18/8 stainless wire mixing ball
- Colourways
- Black, Clear
- Weight
- 118g empty with the ball. 24oz to the brim, 20oz to a practical fill line.
- Made
- Moulded and assembled in Taiwan.
Care
- Rinse immediately after use, lid off. This is the whole trick.
- Top-rack dishwasher safe. The wire ball is dishwasher safe too.
- Do not leave it sealed with anything in it overnight.
Cautions
- Not for hot liquids. Copolyester is not rated for them and the seal will weep.
- Not insulated - a cold drink in this is warm in an hour.
- Do not put it in a freezer. A full one will crack at the base.
